Within hours of watching the lessons I started to notice improvements in my technique. Under Mikes guidance and encouragement I have learnt so much and improved massively over the last 2 years. I love Mike Quinn specific mention of detail to everything from technique to building character - finding it's voice - how it moves - and building yourself as an actor beyond the puppet. I am a professional puppeteer and I too worked with Jim and Jane Henson in NYC and at the Muppet Carriage House on E69th Street helping them develop puppets and characters. I also teach TV puppeteering and wanted to see someone else's perspective on the same subject. I learned so much from Mike and look forward to learning more. Never stop learning has always been my mantra as a performer - singer, dancer, actor. It seems to be Mike Quinn's as well as he is always leaving room for the performer to find THEMSELVES within the technique that he teaches. I worked with THE MUPPET SHOW ON TOUR, THE MUPPET BABIES LIVE, and THE BEAKER AND BUNSEN SHOW LIVE (I also choreographed that one) for Jim and Jane Henson and also the Bert and Ernie Show at Sesame Place as dance captain and choreographer. To work directly with Jim, Dave Goelz, Frank Oz, Jerry Nelson, Richard Hunt - as they would visit us on tour and work with us. We did live full body puppets which I did as a dancer from 1984-1990 when Jim left us. They knew the hand puppet version and characters and we had to figure out how to move a full size version of the puppet so it looked like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Scooter, Gonzo - and not look different than the smaller puppet counterpart. After I was done touring - Jane Henson would call me in often work on full body puppets with Jim Henson at the Carriage House in NYC on the upper east side - and he would ask me how a character COULD move... what did I need inside the body puppet - should the head be 'toggled' or not etc. It was the best college education you could ask for. Many of the younger puppeteers working on Muppet projects today - never even met Jim Henson. I feel privileged to have worked with Jim, Jane, John and even Brian at Sesame Place when he was still in high school in Langhorne Pa. He was the computer wiz even in 1984!
